Margaret Thatcher, she just got on and made things happen. Like her or loathe her she just got on with it. We could have done with her recently in the Government!
What’s the worst job you have ever had?
Working in the Butchery department of a big supermarket during University holidays. Having to clean out all the equipment, and heat seal the packaging of meat. I couldn’t wait to finish that job. Then they put me on the till which was a problem as I am numerically dyslectic.

“No one gives you something for nothing, if you want things in life you have to work for them”.
This was my dads mantra and has kept me working hard and focused all my life.
What is your proudest achievement in business?
Selling my first HydroVeg Kit to a stranger who loved what we do. It meant that it was worth it and people who had no link to me thought highly of the concept and product.
What’s your favourite business book?
Dale Carnegies book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.
This book, although written in 1936 is still as valid today in building and improving relationships in business, with family and friends. It had helped me get through difficult times, build a great network and the tools to help me become a speaker and trainer on effective Networking. I read it at least once a year and carry the principles in my head.
and just for fun…
Which personality or business person would you invite to sit on your dream Board of Directors and why?
Nelson Mandella, as I need him help me sit back sometimes and make sure I am doing the right things for people and humanity rather than charging right on in a whirl.
