This is the first of the Woman Who Achieves Award Winner features and what a way to start this year’s roll of honour.

Congratulations Maria Hanson MBE, founder of me&dee charity, the Winner of the Woman Who Achieves for a Charity Award, sponsored by Alsters Kelley Solicitors, who also judged this category.

The Woman Who Achieves Awards took place on Friday 2nd October. We couldn’t hold a face to face event this year following the Government lockdown restrictions. However, it didn’t hamper our spirits and the online Awards were delivered from the Spotlight Studio in Coventry.

Thank you to all the Winners and Finalists for your support and making this event into an amazing interactive online Awards event.

me&dee is a registered charity, established in July 2006 by Maria Hanson MBE.

Clients are adults and children of any age, who have a life shortening, threatening or terminal condition, making their time together as a couple or a family limited.

The aim of me&dee is to create memories for those in this position in a personal and emphatic way, through means of a holiday.

What the Judges said:

“This nomination really stood out and the judges were blown away by her achievements. Maria is a true inspiration to everyone – she has achieved so much whilst having to overcome so much on a personal level. Her motto is ‘never give up – move the goal posts but never the goal’ – something we can all resonate with.”

“When you receive an award, it’s an affirmation: it means that people appreciate what you do, it is recognition of their belief and trust and that is priceless. I would like to thank all involved in the decision and the confidence and strength that gives me moving forward”

Congratulations too to all the Finalists in this Category

  • Susan McEniff, Charity Link
  • Lorraine Lewis, The Lewis Foundation

I am honoured to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Charity Category again this year. Covid-19 has brought particular challenges to the charitable sector and I am extremely proud that Charity Link has continued its service throughout the pandemic, supporting thousands of local people in need. I’m also proud of the part I have played to make that happen.”
