Introducing today’s Academy Member feature Abbi Head of The Visuals Adviser
Tell me a little about you and what you do?
As The Visuals Adviser, I help my clients to gain confidence and credibility as subject-matter experts and potential thought leaders by providing the tools to promote them. I use a combination of public relations, including pitching to the media, content marketing, and guest blogging, plus designing visuals for presentations, webinars, or social media. I have my own strategy called the 5 ROI Marketing Principles which includes Respect, Recognition, Resilience, Reputation, and Reinforcement on Investment. Ideal for those who need to master their message, be their brand, and own their online voice. I am also an educational and inspirational public speaker.
What has been your stand-out moment of 2021?
Standing on the stage at Coombe Abbey at the Woman Who Achieves Awards on 1st October 2021 was the most exhilarating and terrifying experience. After months of lockdowns, it was incredible to be around so many people networking again. My excitement meant that when I took my place to speak that I delivered with confidence. That was a moment I will never forget and an opportunity that I am very grateful for. I did not realise that there were 160 people in the room and even more simultaneously online.
This was the keynote that I needed to tell. My own personal journey struggling with my identity until I found my confidence and purpose. This was the story within me that broke the ice, like the book you write within you before you become an author. Now I am prepared for my educational keynotes in 2022. I will be speaking again at Coombe Abbey for the FSB on 31st January at their Business Bootcamp and Networking event. I never intended to become a public speaker but after my first experiences in 2019, followed by 18 months of online speaking at networking events as well as this accomplishment in October there is no going back.
What or who would you like to see under your Christmas Tree this year?
Honestly? It would be Mum who passed away in 2020. It’s been a very difficult year.
A practical gift under the tree, however, would be a gift experience. Preferably a spa break for two weeks. That would be a combination of every relaxing treatment from massage, aromatherapy, saunas, hot stones and I would even try acupuncture. Obviously, it would include healthy food that cleanses with a detox after the Christmas treats. I’d like it to be somewhere with great walks nearby to get some exercise, and maybe if they had an onsite gym I would partake. The icing on the Christmas cake would be if that break was somewhere hot and scenic. I love to travel and so combined with a holiday destination would make the perfect gift.
What are you promoting right now?
I am introducing many clients to the world of public relations for the first time. Therefore I am offering a 2022 taster for £99 per month with a saving for paying upfront for 3 months at £248. This introductory price includes my research, writing copy, and pitching to the media. I also offer a 5-week course that will give you an insight into my 5 Key ROI Marketing Principles strategy for only £199. This is ideal for clients who want to learn about self-promotion via thought leadership and engagement marketing. This course is suitable for both business owners and employees who want an online presence and build their reputation.
What are you looking forward to most in 2022?
I had no inclination last year that I would have my own business in public relations after 10 years employed as a Media Officer at a local charity. So who knows what exciting opportunities will arise in 2022. I will embrace every one of them. As a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) I am looking forward to completing my CIPR Diploma. I will also be seeking out further public speaking opportunities. I am really looking forward to seeing more of my networking connections in person. In early 2022 I will feature as a co-author in two more books including one about my public speaking journey. Education is important to me and so I aim to have three self-education courses available to purchase on Mastermind.com by the end of the year. I also intend to visit my previous home in Newport, Wales, and visit my Toastmasters club face-to-face. Ideally, I will be speaking to the students at my old university there about my experiences from being a troubled and introverted student to becoming a public speaker.
What’s your favourite Christmas song?
Every year I am always moved by the Band Aid song “Do They Know It’s Christmas.” The words resonate with me, and I know that I am blessed to have my life of privilege. There has been so much to contend with for so many over the past two years particularly. So it seems even more necessary to consider those who are struggling over Christmas, wherever they may be.
