For female entrepreneurs, understanding how much your mindset matters can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Your mindset acts as an invisible thread connecting everything you do. You, therefore, need to nurture it if you hope to achieve success, growth, and resilience.

What is mindset?

In its simplest form, mindset is a collection of your beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours. Think about the glass half-full metaphor as a positive mindset and the glass half-empty as a negative mindset.

Everything you have experienced in life, including the people and places that may have influenced you over the years, all help to create your mindset. If you have struggled or been presented with many challenges, you may feel that this has weighed you down and left you with a poor or fixed mindset. However, your mindset can shift and evolve as you expose yourself to new people, places, and experiences.

The key to ensuring your mindset remains a priority is to become self-aware, open to opportunities, and willing to work at it.

Understanding the impact of your mindset

A negative mindset manifests as a fear of failure, crippling self-doubt, and avoidance. Can you remember a time you didn’t attend an event, put yourself forward for an award, or stopped yourself from launching something new? That barrier is your mindset working against you.

If you hope to make this the year you make a difference, push yourself out of that comfort zone, and begin to grow, you will need to focus on cultivating positivity.

When your mindset is positive, it becomes a catalyst for growth, innovation, and courage.

Would you like to reach the end of the year ahead with a list of achievements under your belt? Harness a positive mindset to help you navigate any challenges, create strategies, be able to pivot if necessary, and maintain determination.

Strategies to boost your entrepreneurial mindset

What strategies can you put in place to help boost a positive mindset? Here are some of the favourite ideas from the Woman Who community:

Gratitude – when you create a habit of acknowledging and appreciating every small win or lesson, you build a bank of gratitude that boosts your positive mindset.

Goal setting – break any big goals you have down into smaller, actionable steps and celebrate the milestones along the way. Don’t try to achieve everything at once. Break your goals into months, or follow my 90-day planning schedule.

Network – when you surround yourself with like-minded people, mentors, coaches, and positive individuals, you encourage positivity and growth. Remember, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with! Choose them with care.

“Choose to be the sunshine in someone’s day and watch the ripple effect of good vibes expand.” Rachel Hollis, “Girl, Stop Apologizing”

Self-care – your mindset matters, and to prioritise this, you must allocate time for activities that recharge your batteries and boost your mental and physical wellbeing.

Challenge limiting beliefs – when you can identify the beliefs that are holding you back, you can challenge them and change the narrative. For example, if you have a limiting belief about earning or saving money, you might tell yourself that you can earn enough money, but your subconscious mind will disagree. You need to challenge this thought and tell yourself what you want your relationship with money to be like.

Did you know that 85% of your belief system is subconscious, which means you aren’t even aware of it?

Learn – think of your mindset as a living thing that needs to be encouraged, nurtured, and stimulated. Invest in learning through books, workshops, networking events, and courses, like my Visibility Bootcamp in February.

How will you integrate these strategies into your life and business?

Commit to building an environment of positivity, resilience, and an unwavering belief in your capabilities.

Remember that your mindset is a guiding force for your life and business journey. By understanding its power and foundations, and actively developing your growth/positive mindset, you can shatter those glass ceilings, break down boundaries, and create success.

How do successful entrepreneurs ensure that their mindset matters?

It can be difficult to shift your mindset if you constantly compare yourself to other people. However, it can be interesting to see how other successful women in business understand their mindset and work with it.

They know their why – when you are clear and focused on what you want to achieve, how you’re going to do it, and who can help you, it frees you of worry and overwhelm as you have a plan of action.

They see opportunities – with a growth mindset, these business owners never dwell on the impossible. They explore what they can create and push themselves to seek out opportunities.

They build good habits – whether it’s working on a 90-day marketing strategy, engaging on social media, launching new services, or networking, successful entrepreneurs know that consistency is key!

They value themselves – when was the last time you congratulated yourself on a job well done? When did you last put your prices up? Successful business owners understand their worth.

A positive mindset encourages you to look inside and understand that any obstacles can be a lesson in growth. The online world promotes perfection, which is why it’s so important to remind yourself that failure is normal, challenges strengthen, and your mindset matters.
