To strengthen your business brand, you need to understand the importance of amplified storytelling. In this article, I’m focusing on one of my Amplify Experience members who has stepped out from behind the scenes and now stands centre stage, and how you can follow in her footsteps.
TL;DR
- Confidence is built through consistency, courage, and saying yes before you feel ready.
- Speaking regularly builds self-belief through perfection, but repetition.
- Visibility grows when you contribute, collaborate, and show up where it matters.
- Being recognised as a trusted voice positions you as an authority in your field.
- Brand clarity comes from amplifying the right parts of your business, not doing everything.
- The Amplify Experience supports focused growth, visibility, and aligned messaging
- The Woman Who Awards celebrate women who inspire others through their growth and contribution
If you were at the Woman Who Solopreneur Awards last year, you may have noticed something…Shelley Wilson was everywhere!
By the end of the day, I was jokingly referring it to The Shelley Wilson Show, because every time someone looked up, she was back on stage again with a mic in hand..
Honestly? I love to facilitate this kind of visibility.
Shelley Wilson, a multi-genre author of over twenty books and a writing mentor, is one of my Amplify Experience members, whose journey perfectly embodies what happens when confidence, visibility, speaking skills, and brand clarity come together.
Confidence: Growth You Can See (and Hear)
One of the most powerful moments of the Woman Who Solopreneur Awards is when I give one of my ACCELARATE Academy members an Academy Award. Every year, I choose one member who’s stood out for me.
Now, when I give my community a shout out, it isn’t in a loud, ego-driven way, but in that grounded, solid way that comes from watching someone put in the work.
Shelley has gone from being someone who supported from the sidelines to someone who:
- Owns her expertise
- Trusts her voice
- Shows up fully, without apology
Here are the comments I gave Shelley when she accepted her award.
“This wasn’t a difficult choice. This Academy Member embraces the values of the Academy with her support, for me, and for many Academy members. Her collaboration, courage, consistency, and visibility shines through. She’s not only transformed her own business and grown in confidence, but she’s inspired those around her to do the same.”
Confidence like that isn’t accidental. It’s built through consistency, courage, and choosing to say yes before you feel ready.
Speaking: Saying Yes to the Mic
Shelley’s visibility journey is closely tied to her willingness to step into speaking opportunities even when they stretched her comfort zone.
Over the past couple of years, Shelley has:
- Co-hosted the Woman Who Awards
- Acted as a roving mic (no small task!)
- Spoken on stage
- Been interviewed live on stage
- Stepped in to run the Mic Drop Moments Podcast
- Featured on the Mic Drop Moments Podcast three times
- Contributed to the I Am A Woman Who book
- Judged the Woman Who Awards four times.
Getting that microphone back off Shelley has become a full-time job. She loves it! This is how speaking builds confidence. Not through perfection, but through repetition.
Visibility: Showing Up Where It Matters
Visibility is about being recognised, and Shelley has intentionally shown up within the Woman Who community as an attendee, a contributor, collaborator, and trusted voice.
That visibility has helped her:
- Build deeper relationships
- Be associated with authority and expertise
- Position herself clearly as both an author and mentor
People now expect to see Shelley at Woman Who events. That’s when visibility starts working for you.
Brand Clarity: The Next Level
As you look ahead to 2026, the focus shifts from doing lots of things well to amplifying the right things strategically. With my support through The Amplify Experience, Shelley is now honing her 2026 focus on:
- Creating a clear messaging around her books
- Strong positioning for her writing mentorship and membership
- A sharper brand narrative that ties her creativity, expertise, and offers together
Your brand clarity helps you communicate clearly to the right people so they know they’re in the right place. Your visibility then provides a platform to show those people that you can be trusted to help with their transformation.
How are you going to amplify yourself in 2026?
Why Shelley’s Journey Matters
Shelley’s story is a reminder to all of us that confidence is built over time. Your visibility grows when you contribute rather than sitting back and hoping opportunities will materialise.
Business growth is supported by the right environment and the right people, which is why the Woman Who Awards are so important.
The Woman Who Achieves Awards celebrates women in business each Spring, and entries opened on 1st January 2026. This event is an uplifting celebration of female entrepreneurship, featuring inspirational speakers, networking opportunities, and stories that empower other women to achieve more.
“I’ve been entering awards since 2022 and never before have I experienced such an organised, well-structured and genuinely thoughtful approach. It’s honestly blown me away and feels like a top-notch experience from start to finish.” Becky Barnes, Finalist 2025
