It’s easy to believe you need to have your visibility strategy figured out before putting yourself out there, but opportunities don’t materialise if you stay in the background. Instead, they come from consistently showing up, sharing your message, and allowing others to see the value, expertise, and energy you bring to your business.
Summary
- Consistently showing up helps build trust, credibility, and recognition.
- Tara Askham is a great example of strategically leveraging visibility through speaking, networking, and event involvement.
- Speaking opportunities don’t have to mean a big stage – podcasts, panels, workshops, networking spotlights, and live videos all count.
- Confidence usually comes after taking action, not before.
- The more visible you become, the easier it is to attract clients, collaborations, referrals, and media opportunities.
- Trust is built when people regularly see your expertise, personality, values, and message.
- Small, intentional visibility actions today can create significant opportunities in the future.
- Visibility is a skill that grows with practice.
- The Amplify Experience helps women increase their visibility, confidence, and business opportunities through speaking, networking, branding, and content creation.
Visibility creates momentum, and momentum creates opportunities.
At Woman Who, we see this time and time again in our community, especially within The Amplify Experience, where women step outside their comfort zones, build their confidence, and begin to gain visibility that supports long-term business growth.
One woman embodying this beautifully is Tara Askham. Tara is the founder of TKA Finance Training and She Starts Smart and is passionate about helping people feel more confident in understanding finance and business numbers. Through her work, Tara brings clarity, support, and education to topics that many business owners find overwhelming.
What stands out most is how Tara is making visibility a key part of her strategy.
A great example of this was seeing Tara at the podcast desk, conducting roving-mic interviews, and co-hosting at the Woman Who Achieves Awards recently.
Rather than staying quietly in the background, Tara stepped into a visible role that allowed her to connect with attendees, have meaningful conversations, and become part of the event’s energy and experience.
That kind of visibility matters!
When people see you actively involved, speaking confidently, and engaging with others, it builds familiarity, trust, and credibility. It also creates opportunities that continue after the event.
Speaking Creates Momentum
Speaking is one of the fastest ways to increase your visibility because it allows people to experience your energy, expertise, and personality in real time.
However, you don’t need to stand on a huge stage in front of hundreds of people to call yourself a speaker. Speaking opportunities can include:
- Panel discussions
- Podcast interviews
- Networking spotlights
- Hosting workshops
- Interviewing guests
- Going live online
- Leading conversations at events
Every time you speak, you strengthen your confidence and increase your visibility.
Visibility Builds Trust
People buy from people they trust, and trust is built through consistency and connection over time. Your audience wants to know:
- Who you are (your story!)
- What you stand for (your values)
- How you help people (the solutions you offer)
- What makes you different from the others in your industry
- Whether they feel connected to your energy and message
When you consistently show up and share your expertise and personality, you become memorable.
Tara’s visibility through networking, speaking, community involvement, and event engagement demonstrates exactly how impactful this can be. By actively participating and showing up in visible spaces, she’s creating that recognition and reinforcing her expertise in a way that feels authentic and approachable. People are talking about her in rooms she isn’t in!
You Don’t Need to Wait Until You Feel Ready
One of the biggest myths around visibility is the idea that confidence comes first. Usually, confidence comes after you’ve taken the action. I see this all the time in the ladies who speak at my Solopreneur Awards. They are nervous before taking to the stage, but once they’ve spoken, they often ask me when they can do it again!
The women creating incredible opportunities in business are taking small, intentional steps forward before they feel fully prepared. Visibility is a skill, and like any skill, it grows with practice. The more you show up, the easier it becomes. Are you ready to show up? If so, write yourself a list of where you would like to be (on stage, on a podcast, running a masterclass, etc.)
Where Could Visibility Take You?
Take a moment to think about the visibility opportunities that could arise for you over the next six months.
Could speaking help you:
- Grow your audience?
- Build authority in your industry?
- Create new collaborations?
- Attract aligned clients?
- Open doors to media or podcast opportunities?
- Increase confidence in your business?
All of these start with a simple YES!
Visibility Creates Opportunities
I love creating opportunities for my members and through The Amplify Experience I get to know them so much better and a real relationship is formed. During the last six months I’ve really got to know Tara and I was delighted when she invted me onto the Advisory Board of She Starts Smart. More than that though, I can look out for introductions to Tara and opportunities for her to speak.
Last month, we spent a few days together in Miami on a business retreat where (over a couple of G&Ts) we formed a great collaboration to host a tent at this year’s IdeasFest. In fact, we even created more opportunities for our network

Sandra Garlick MBE’s Amplify Experience has been genuinely game-changing for me. It starts exactly where it should with visibility. It challenges you to take an honest look at how visible you really are, and then builds from there, helping you develop the confidence to speak publicly about your expertise and create a clear, actionable plan to get seen.
What really stands out is the time with Sandra herself the live sessions and the one-to-one access are invaluable. You’re not just getting a programme, you’re getting Sandra.
The community, the materials, and the support are second to none. I’ve already recommended The Amplify Experience to others without hesitation, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
